In July 2011 about 200 people had their spirits uplifted during A SPECIAL EVENING OF NATIVE HEALING that was presented to the Mount Shasta Community by legendary Northern California Karuk medicine man Charles (Red Hawk) Thom Sr, Earth Circle Drum, and EarthAlive Communications.

EARTH CIRCLE DRUM

Earth Circle Drum rocked the house! As Charlie Thom blessed the drummers and their babies with his eagle-feather fan, Head Drummer Mario Gonzales (Paiute),Carla Charraga (Mexican/Mayan) (photo right), Earl Huitt (Modoc/Klamath/Paiute), Tina Rund, David Huitt (Modoc/Klamath/Paiute), Christy Cameron (adopted Karuk), Robin Houghton, and Matthew Bueno (adopted Karuk/Lakota), along with Supporter Ron Griffith

A highlight of the event was 83 year-old Charlie Thom, who shared his humor and wisdom by telling stories about the healing traditions and medicines of his ancestors.

Storyteller Earl Huitt (Modoc/Klamath/Paiute) captivated the crowd with animated tales that had been passed down through the generations. He also demonstrated a traditional healing Raven Dance, powerfully performed with an authentic wooden raven mask.

Herbalist Christy Cameron (adopted Karuk) displayed a wide variety of wildcrafted medicinal herbs and roots and talked about the healing properties of Northern California plants.

(Rogue River/Modoc/Pit River/Shasta/Karuk/Yurok), sang loud their prayers for their families, for people in our community, and for those in other parts of the world... for the water, the sacred land, the children, the ancestors, and the animals... bringing strong healing medicine to the entire community!
