THE ANCIENT AGORA

In ancient Greece the Agora (Greek: Ἀγορά) was an exciting place of shops, stalls, produce, performances, gossip, news and announcements. Located at the foot of the Acropolis, the Agora also provided a forum for the lively exchange of ideas and debates of merchants, artists, philosophers, healers, teachers and students.

When I first visited the Agora to photograph it for a Newsweek book on the Parthenon, I became aware of a powerful energy... the sharing of information, creativity, and commerce... that can still be felt in the area. Held by the rocks and the ruins, it is etched into my memory. That memory has inspired this store.
